- Joy Dunoon
Joy and her late husband Doug have worked in the Garden Supplies industry since the mid 1950s. Joy was one of the first female tip truck, and front end loader operators in the Geelong area. Originally selling garden supplies from a site in Fyansford they relocated to the corner of Wattlepark Ave and High Street Moolap in 1973.
After some successful years the business moved again in 1976, after purchasing a larger, higher profile site at 295 Bellarine Hwy, Moolap. This is one of current site’s the business is located, and although a major investment at the time, it provided opportunities for expansion and Joy and Doug worked very hard to ensure the business prospered.
Their five children were now living onsite with them whilst operating a seven day a week business. In 1987 Joy and Doug built their dream home on a property in Clifton Springs where they semi-retired. Joy remains the major shareholder of the company.
- David Dunoon
David has the overall responsibility for the functioning of the NSS business group. He spent 10 years as Logistics Manager with Melcann Ltd (now Cement Australia) before joining the privately listed Swire Group from London in 1996.
Here he had many operational and management roles with national Australian companies Transwest Haulage Pty Ltd and Kalari Transport Pty Ltd, where his last role was based in Adelaide as Regional Manager of South Australia and the Northern Territory. David rejoined the family business in 2011 to take up the role as General Manager.
- Chris Dunoon
Chris is the current Operations Manager and Sole Director of Newcomb Sand and Soil Supplies. Chris has been with the business for over 37 years, starting as a teenager on a part time basis before commencing full time employment in 1981.
As the Operations Manager, he is responsible for managing the company’s fleet of trucks and trailers, as well as, plant and equipment. In addition, Chris also manages the Portarlington and Inverleigh sand pits and is responsible for major clients such as, Local Government Councils, Water Authorities and Civil Contractors. Chris is a hands-on manager who spends most of his time at the company’s operational sites.
- Ryan Dunoon
Ryan has had a variety of roles at Newcomb Sand & Soil Supplies and is the ‘middle son’ of Chris Dunoon. Starting at the Moolap retail yard as a teenager, Ryan then became a Personal Trainer and ran his own business after completing an Exercise Sport Science Degree.
After 5 years as a Personal Trainer, Ryan returned to the business on a full time basis as Logistics Controller and now organises the day to day operational logistic movements.. Ryan also has experience managing the company’s Pt Henry bulk facility and the Moolap retail yard.
- Joanne Dunoon
Joanne gained experience in Administration functions in a variety of Companies including, Geelong Hospital (Barwon Health) and Transwest Haulage Pty. Ltd. (Kalari). Joanne joined the family business on a full time basis in 1986 and has been responsible for a broad range of management responsibilities in the Administration area.
Her qualifications include Heavy Combination Licence, OHS Courses, Diploma of Business Administration and Diploma of Management.
- Amanda Lauder
Amanda is a Geelong local with almost 30 years’ experience in finance and administration within the Transport Industry. Most of her experience was gained at Transwest Haulage Pty Ltd and later Kalari Transport in Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable. Amanda joined NSS in January 2013 and has since become an integral part of the team at NSS. Amanda’s responsibilities include all areas of accounts and administration.
- Daryl Martini CPA
Daryl is a Certified Practicing Accountant (CPA), has a Master’s in Business Administration and over 30 years’ experience in finance and corporate services across a range of organisations. Although, Daryl has worked locally with companies such as, Godfrey Hirst, Pivot Agriculture and Kraft Foods, most of his career has been based overseas in the UK and Pacific working for consulting firms such as, URS, Coffey and SMEC. Daryl has recently commenced with Newcomb Sand and Soil and is responsible for a range of responsibilities across the finance and corporate service functions.
