Burst water main- Queens Park

Client: Barwon Water

We were quick to respond when Barwon Water asked us for help with a large burst water main at Queens Park in Newtown. Heavy equipment was required to excavate to a depth of more than five metres to expose the 375mm water pipe. Some of the resources that we were able to dedicate to the job included tip trucks, a 25 tonne excavator, a bobcat, a low loader, supervising staff, crushed rock and sand.

Our employees worked rotating shifts over a 48 hour period alongside the Barwon Water team members in what was an extremely challenging situation, involving night-time work with limited lighting. This work was carried out along the river bank in an environmentally sensitive area and we had to ensure all operators and employees took extra care to protect the natural habitat where possible.

Importantly, the work was conducted safely and under supervision – without incident. Together with the Barwon Water employees on-site, were able to repair the water main and ensure that residents and businesses once again had access to water.
